Waters-Piper is now KitschyKitten.com

I'm moving everything over to my Wordpress blog, KitschyKitten, a site where I post fun goodies that I find and pics of the kids and family. I wanted a domain name that leaves the door open to post about anything we want, not just family events.

Don't worry! Same content, just a different url with more powerful functionality. We can do cooler stuff there!

So please update your bookmarks to http://www.kitschykitten.com.

I'll leave this site up for a while until people find their way over.

xoxo,
Alana

Girlie weekend!

Steph, Nikki, Alicia and I checked into a hotel Saturday night with plans of cocktails, shopping, and a wonderful grown-up dinner. All went well until poor Alicia sliced open the tip of her finger on my picnic knife. So off to the ER she went. Once everyone was back in the room, we sat up until well past 1am visiting, telling stories, and cracking each other up. Injuries aside, it was a perfect little getaway.

The next day we hit Oakbrook Mall and I found these wonderful new goodies:
Anthropologie: The Allamanda Necklace

Sephora: Sugar Lemon perfume by Fresh
I think it's the ideal scent for the warm summer days I hope will get here soon. (Dave says it smells like Sprite.)
Sephora: Sugar Rosè SPF 15 lip tint by Fresh
It adds the most perfect swipe of sheer, natural rose color to your lips.

Eco-friendly watch by Sprout
The strap is made from organic cotton, the bezel from corn-based resin, the face is bamboo and the battery is mercury-free. Somewhere a polar bear just let out a sigh of relief.

Land of Nod (It's not just for kids!) Birds of a Feather Hang Together in orange. She looks so happy hanging in my office window.

Pottery Barn Kids Airplane Mobile
Baby Will can't be the great-grandson of one of our nation's first wave of aviators, the grandson of a pilot and the nephew of an aerospace engineer and NOT have some aviation inspiration over his crib! That just wouldn't be right.

So I picked up those goodies along with a few little things for the kids and wrapped things up after a lovely lunch with the ladies. I can't wait to do it again soon.

Next time we bring a bin of pre-sliced limes.

Office Space

Office Space, originally uploaded by Alana Waters-Piper.
The view outside my window was extra pretty today, especially for it still being quite a stretch 'til springtime. So I took a couple of minutes to appreciate my view and thought it would be fun to share the space I spend more time in than my own home.

Here's the whole set: "Worky Work Busy Bee". Pics of my office.

This one's for Melia & Jennifer Robin

Dressin' like it's 1987.

Hi Auntie Sandra!

FLOR in the Kitchen? Yeah I did.

Our kitchen floor is over an uninsulated crawl space (brr!), has horrible, giant white tiles, and is right inside our primary entry. We don't want to do the whole smashing of tile mess and new tile right now, so my fix until we get our "forever house" is to put down FLOR tiles that were intended for industrial use. They look similar to cork from standing distance, are warm under foot, more like soft tiles than carpet, liquid beads on them, and they can be pulled up and washed off if anything too goopy happens.

Bonus points for being $5.99 a square.

Good morning, darlings
